Pharrell Williams wearing Jacob & Co.’s diamond brain chain, a custom 18k gold pendant encrusted with over 1,600 white and yellow diamonds.

Pharrell’s Diamond Brain Chain by Jacob & Co.

When it comes to boundary-pushing fashion, Pharrell Williams has always been a leader, not a follower. From his early collaborations with Louis Vuitton to founding Billionaire Boys Club, his style has consistently defied categorization. But one of his boldest jewelry moments came in 2021 when he unveiled a custom diamond chain shaped like a human brain, designed by none other than Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co.

The piece was more than just flashy — it was anatomically accurate, showing the left and right hemispheres, the folds of the cortex, and even a brain stem. Crafted from 18k yellow gold, and encrusted with over 1,600 white and yellow diamonds, the pendant took more than a year to design and build. The matching Cuban link chain was similarly iced out, making the entire set weigh over 2 kilograms.

According to interviews with Jacob Arabo and Pharrell, the piece symbolizes creativity, intelligence, and originality — all things Pharrell holds sacred. He debuted it during the Something in the Water festival and later wore it at several fashion shows and industry events.

Jacob & Co. is known for working with hip-hop royalty — from Jay-Z and Kanye West to Lil Uzi Vert — but Pharrell’s brain chain may be their most conceptual piece ever. It combined jewelry engineering, philosophy, and fashion, elevating iced-out pieces to something closer to wearable sculpture.

What’s more, the chain was featured in GQ, Hypebeast, and Complex, all of whom hailed it as one of the most daring jewelry statements in recent memory. Pharrell, known for his love of clean, futuristic aesthetics, viewed the piece not as jewelry, but as "a wearable idea."

This brain chain set a new standard for custom high jewelry — not just in hip hop, but in art. It shows that today’s luxury pieces are as much about identity and innovation as they are about carats and clarity.
